Tristan Martin is a freelance documentary producer and editor based in London.
I started out as a multimedia journalist with Reuters, before moving to Colombia to work as a freelance journalist. Whilst in Latin America I co-founded the production company Pestle and Mortar. Over a period of three years we produced short documentaries and features for National Geographic, Vice, Quartz, NBC and the BBC.
Since returning to London permanently in 2020, I have established myself as a documentary editor with a focus on big, challenging topics and global themes. From the Emmy award winning Putin’s War at Home, about the repression of free speech in Russia, to the BAFTA winning series Once Upon a Time in Northern Ireland, telling personal stories from The Troubles. My latest film Not Welcome: Battle to Stop the Boats tells the story of asylum seekers risking it all to make it to the UK, and of the people who are determined to stop them.
